Product Design Engineer

 Structureworks is seeking a Product Design Engineer to support new product development by turning product concepts into accurate, manufacturable designs and complete technical documentation. This role is part of the New Product Development department and works closely with product development, engineering, production, procurement, and marketing to help bring new architectural product systems from idea to prototype and eventual release.

The Product Design Engineer is responsible for translating conceptual designs into detailed 3D CAD models, 2D technical drawings, component specifications, fabrication details, and Bills of Materials. This position requires strong technical design ability, attention to detail, and an understanding of how product design decisions affect manufacturing, assembly, cost, installation, and long-term product quality.

This role supports the development of complete documentation packages that allow products to be reviewed, prototyped, quoted, manufactured, and maintained consistently. The Product Design Engineer will help ensure drawings, BOMs, product structures, revision updates, and supporting files are accurate, organized, and aligned with company documentation standards.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working through design details, identifying feasibility concerns, communicating gaps or challenges, and supporting prototype fabrication with clear drawings and timely design clarifications. This is a good fit for someone who enjoys practical product development, technical documentation, CAD modeling, and designing products that must work in real manufacturing and field-use conditions.

This position requires the ability to balance design intent, manufacturability, product strategy, schedule, and documentation accuracy. Success in this role depends on strong CAD skills, organized communication, careful follow-through, and the ability to work with internal teams to turn new product ideas into clear, buildable, and repeatable product systems.
